The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled November 19 for a ruling in a case contesting the senatorial candidacy of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi Central. This decision follows the conclusion of final arguments presented by legal representatives involved in the case.

The suit was brought forward by Momoh Yusuf Obaro, another APC aspirant, who claims he was the rightful winner of the party's primary election held on May 18. Obaro is seeking a court declaration to recognize him as the legitimate candidate for the APC and to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept and publish his name as such.

In his defense, Yahaya Bello asserts that he won the primary election with 72,399 votes, significantly outpacing Obaro, who received only 188 votes.
