The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully apprehended a man wanted for the murder of his business partner in Niger Republic. The suspect, Mas'udu Saidu, was located and arrested in Gulma town, situated in the Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The arrest was confirmed by the police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, who addressed journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, September 25, 2026. According to Usman, Saidu is accused of fatally stabbing his business partner, Mas'udu M. Sani, aged 38, during an altercation in Niger Republic. Following the incident, Saidu allegedly fled to Kebbi, seeking refuge.

Mas'udu M. Sani, the victim, hailed from Kebbe Local Government Area in Sokoto State, and both men were Nigerian nationals. The police spokesperson noted that Saidu's arrest was made possible through credible intelligence and effective collaboration with international security agencies.

Usman highlighted that the police had initiated a manhunt for Saidu after he was declared wanted by authorities in Niger Republic. This led to his eventual capture in Kebbi State.

"Yes, we arrested a fugitive wanted in Niger Republic for stabbing his business partner to death. We are currently investigating him at the SCID," Usman stated.

The police are now working closely with the Interpol section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja to handle the case. Usman emphasized that the prosecution of Saidu would be determined by the Interpol section due to the cross-border nature of the crime, which falls under their jurisdiction.
