In a significant operation, troops from Operation Whirl Stroke successfully rescued six individuals who had been kidnapped in the Gbise community of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area in Benue State. The rescue took place over the weekend, reaffirming the commitment of the Joint Task Force to protect lives and combat criminal activities in the region.

According to Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the Acting Media Information Officer for Operation Whirl Stroke, the troops were conducting routine patrols on September 25, 2026, when they received credible intelligence about the presence of the kidnapped victims. Acting swiftly, the troops mobilized to the identified location and successfully evacuated the victims to safety.

The rescued individuals have been identified as Mr. Gabriel Enujuba, 50; Mr. Samson Magbo, 43; Mallam Alkasim Modu, 27; Mr. Manzo Bello, 27; Mallam Sani Abdullahi, 25; and Mr. Munza Yusuf, 25. Preliminary investigations revealed that five of the victims were abducted along the Chenchengi-Takum road, while the sixth victim, Munza Yusuf, was kidnapped from his residence in the Ahmadu General area of Takum Local Government Area in Taraba State.

Following the successful rescue, Operation Whirl Stroke has intensified its operations, focusing on intelligence-led strategies aimed at locating and apprehending the members of the kidnapping syndicate responsible for these abductions. The troops are enhancing patrols and gathering human intelligence to prevent criminal elements from operating in vulnerable communities and along major transportation routes.

The leadership of Operation Whirl Stroke has urged its personnel to remain proactive and vigilant in the face of emerging security threats. They are also strengthening their human intelligence networks to facilitate the identification and apprehension of criminals.
