The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made a substantial drug seizure in Kano, apprehending two suspects and confiscating a staggering 785,000 capsules of Pregabalin. The operation took place in the Sabon Gari area of Kano metropolis, where 20-year-old Saidu Adamu was arrested with the drugs, which weighed approximately 669.425 kilograms.

In a statement released by Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja, the agency highlighted the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria. Alongside Adamu's arrest, another suspect, 28-year-old Habibu Sabitu, was detained during a stop-and-search operation on the Zaria–Kano–Hadejia road. Sabitu was found with 1,700 tablets of Diazepam, cleverly concealed within loaves of bread.

In a separate operation in Plateau State, NDLEA officers arrested 51-year-old Chinedu Uzor at the Katako Market in Jos, seizing 157,100 capsules of Tramadol from him. These operations underscore the agency's commitment to tackling drug-related crimes across the nation.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), the NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commended the operatives for their diligence and success in these recent operations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to drug control and urged the operatives to intensify their efforts in dismantling the supply chains utilized by drug cartels.

Marwa specifically instructed the operatives to target all avenues exploited by drug traffickers, including those operating through airports, seaports, land borders, and rural areas where illicit drugs like cannabis are cultivated. The NDLEA's recent actions are part of a broader strategy to combat the trafficking and distribution of illegal substances across Nigeria, reflecting a persistent commitment to public safety and health.
