In a series of military operations conducted between September 11 and 13, troops have successfully rescued eight abductees and apprehended six suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno and Adamawa states.

The operations, reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), involved the 82 Division Task Force Battalion, which carried out a rescue mission at the fringes of Armuda and Gava villages in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno. Preliminary investigations revealed that the rescued individuals had managed to escape from the stronghold of Chikede terrorists. Following their rescue, the victims were handed over to local authorities for further assistance.

In Adamawa, the 23 Brigade troops arrested three suspected terrorists at Gaya village in Hong LGA. This arrest was made possible through intelligence gathered from a previously detained terrorist. Additionally, during a coordinated raid with local hunters at Soktu Hill in the Song Local Government Area, six suspected kidnappers were apprehended. These suspects allegedly confessed to kidnapping over seven individuals, extorting ransoms, and executing those who failed to pay.

Further operations in Borno led to the arrest of three individuals suspected of supplying logistics to terrorists in Koppa village, Konduga. These suspects were found with food and household items intended for terrorists operating near Alajiri village, Mafa. The troops also seized three mobile phones, two bicycles, and ₦53,200 in cash from the suspects.

The military also conducted a dawn cordon-and-search operation in Kukawa, prompted by intelligence about potential terrorist attacks. During this operation, one suspected terrorist fighter was arrested after reportedly returning from a year-long stint with terrorist groups in Dumbullum and Kareto camps. In collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, two suspected collaborators were also apprehended, alongside the recovery of six loaves of bread and ₦3.65 million.

In other states, military operations continued to yield results. In Kwara, troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD arrested a suspected collaborator in Oro Ago, while also neutralizing an IED threat along the Woro-Nuku road in Kaiama. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team successfully disposed of two IED cylinders found in the area.

In Plateau, six suspected illegal miners were apprehended at the Rakwok mining site in Barkin Ladi LGA, with various tools and items recovered from them. Meanwhile, in Benue, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested four individuals involved in vandalizing pipelines at Gou in the Logo Local Government Area, seizing a generator and other equipment.

Additionally, troops and police intervened in a communal clash in Kowa Yarda village, Karshi, where a herder allegedly attacked two farmers. The military engaged with community leaders to restore calm and also rescued a Fulani vigilante detained by local youths, returning him to the vigilante headquarters in the area.
