Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has officially inaugurated a significant N15.9 billion flyover in the Post Office area of Maiduguri, marking a pivotal development in the state's infrastructure. This newly completed nine-span flyover is the fourth of its kind in the capital and was constructed by the Chinese firm, Eighteenth Engineering Company, within an impressive timeframe of 11 months.

During the commissioning ceremony held on Sunday, Zulum highlighted the flyover's role in alleviating traffic congestion and improving road safety along one of Maiduguri’s key transportation routes. He stated, "The Post Office nine-span flyover was constructed at a cost of fifteen billion, nine hundred and fifty-eight million, five hundred and eighteen thousand, six hundred and forty-seven Naira, twenty-one kobo only, and completed within 11 months. This project is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety and facilitate the movement of people and goods along one of Maiduguri’s important transportation corridors."

In addition to the flyover, Zulum also inaugurated several educational facilities, including Larawaram Community Senior Secondary School and Shehu Sanda Kyarimi 1 Primary and Junior Day Secondary School. These schools are part of the government's broader initiative to enhance educational access and quality in the region.

The governor further announced the commissioning of a 2.5km dualised road and a 5km drainage system in the Kasuwan Shanu area, which were constructed at a cost of approximately N5 billion. Zulum emphasized that these infrastructure projects are vital for improving urban mobility and fostering economic growth in Borno State. He remarked, "Together, these projects represent our continued commitment to improving mobility, strengthening urban infrastructure, and creating an environment that supports economic activity and social development."

Also present at the commissioning was Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, who commended Zulum for his administration's commitment to infrastructure development. He expressed confidence that the projects would greatly benefit the residents of Maiduguri, stating, "This is one of the projects we will be commissioning today, built by the administration of my dear brother, His Excellency, Babagana Zulum, for the benefit of humanity and for the benefit of our people."

The completion of these projects is seen as a significant step towards revitalizing Maiduguri's urban landscape and improving the quality of life for its residents.
