Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has officially launched the Ogun State chapter of the Iru Ekun Security Network. The event, which took place on Wednesday, attracted a significant turnout, with thousands of supporters and volunteers participating in the launch.

During the event, Igboho emphasized the importance of discipline among members of the newly formed security outfit. He urged them to avoid reckless behavior and to uphold the integrity of the organization. "You must have discipline. Do not engage in reckless behaviour or ruin things just because they have trained you and you have ID card," he stated, highlighting the need for responsible conduct.

The structure of the Iru Ekun Security Network will be shaped by collaboration with government authorities. Igboho noted that the Federal Government would oversee the training of members, while the Ogun State Governor’s Office would determine their deployment locations. He explained that members would receive identification cards at the local government level once training is completed.

In his address, Igboho also mentioned that the Ogun State government had expressed support for the initiative. He revealed that authorities would decide on a monthly allowance for members to assist them in providing for their families. "The Governor has also given us assurance. They have given us support here, and they will decide what monthly allowance to provide to us, to support us, because we have wives, and we have children," he added.

The overarching aim of the Iru Ekun Security Network is to ensure that its members have official identification across the South-West region, allowing them to operate legally while contributing to community safety. Igboho drew comparisons between his initiative and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, stating that if executed properly, Iru Ekun could serve a similar purpose in enhancing security.

The launch event featured hundreds of attendees, many dressed in coordinated black outfits and caps, gathered in a vibrant urban setting, capturing moments on their mobile devices. The Iru Ekun initiative, which translates to "leopard’s tail" in Yoruba, is designed to bolster efforts against crime, including kidnapping and banditry, in the South-West region of Nigeria. This launch in Ogun follows previous inaugurations in other states, indicating a growing movement aimed at improving local security measures.
