Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State have successfully arrested two men suspected of cattle rustling. The apprehension occurred at a mining checkpoint along the Tudun Wada–Kiru Road in the Kiru Local Government Area during the early hours of Tuesday.

The suspects, identified as Jamilu Sa’adu, 45, and Nura Abdullahi, 37, were caught while attempting to transport a cow believed to have been stolen. According to Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Kano State Command, the suspects were intercepted around 3:00 AM in a Sharon Galaxy vehicle with the registration number JJN 606 AE. Upon inspection, the operatives discovered the cow tied down and concealed in the rear section of the vehicle.

During the operation, two additional suspects, presumed to be the main culprits, fled the scene upon noticing the presence of the NSCDC officers and are currently at large. The NSCDC has initiated efforts to locate and apprehend these individuals.

The arrested suspects, along with the cow and two machetes found in their possession, are now in custody. The NSCDC has commenced a thorough investigation to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the alleged cattle rustling incident and to identify the rightful owner of the cow.

In a statement, the NSCDC emphasized its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while combating various forms of criminal activities within the state. The Command also urged the public to continue providing security agencies with credible and timely information to aid in their operations.

As the investigation progresses, the NSCDC assured that the suspects would face prosecution in court, reinforcing their dedication to maintaining law and order in Kano State.
