The Lagos State Government has announced a three-week closure of the Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo for essential rehabilitation works, starting from Friday, August 28, and concluding on September 18, 2026. This initiative aims to enhance the structural integrity and safety of the bridge, which is a crucial transit point for many commuters in the area.

The rehabilitation will be executed in two distinct phases. The first phase will address the outbound section from Isolo to Ejigbo, running from August 28 to September 11. During this period, motorists traveling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway at Pako Roundabout. Traffic will be allowed to flow in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.

In the second phase, scheduled from September 12 to September 18, the inbound Ejigbo to Isolo section will be affected. Motorists coming from Ejigbo will similarly be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway at Mobil Filling Station, allowing for two-way traffic until they reconnect with the main road at Pako Roundabout. Traffic from Isolo will continue to flow freely and share the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound traffic during this phase.

To manage the expected congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed to the area. They will oversee vehicular movement and assist motorists in navigating the diversions. Additionally, an emergency tow vehicle will be stationed nearby to facilitate quick recovery operations for any breakdowns that may occur during the rehabilitation period.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, emphasized the importance of cooperation from motorists during this time. He urged drivers to exercise patience and adhere to the directives of traffic officials. “Motorists are implored to be patient, as the partial road closure forms part of the traffic management plan for the rehabilitation works on Oke-Afa Bridge, Isolo LGA,” he stated.

The state government is committed to ensuring that the repairs are completed efficiently, minimizing disruptions to daily commutes while enhancing the overall safety and functionality of the Oke-Afa Bridge. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly during this period to avoid delays.
