A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Nasarawa State has raised serious concerns regarding the management of donated items at Umaisha General Hospital. During a recent visit, the lawmaker confronted hospital officials about the whereabouts of several items he personally funded, including over 50 ceiling fans, approximately 40 standing fans, and 50 orthopaedic mattresses intended for patient care.

The lawmaker expressed his frustration after discovering that not all of the donated items could be accounted for. He was particularly agitated as he pressed hospital staff for explanations about the missing equipment, which he had hoped would enhance the welfare of both patients and healthcare workers at the facility.

In a video shared on social media platform X, the lawmaker was seen demanding clarity on the situation. A staff member attempted to address his concerns by stating that around seven mattresses had been given to recently discharged patients for temporary use, with the understanding that they would be returned after a two-month period. However, this explanation did little to appease the lawmaker, who continued to seek answers regarding the remaining items.

The lawmaker pointed out that he had previously instructed the hospital management to return the mattresses to a designated location after being informed that they were still in storage. His insistence on accountability highlighted his commitment to ensuring that the donations made for the benefit of the community were properly managed.

Despite his dissatisfaction, the lawmaker extended an offer to hospital staff, stating that anyone in genuine need of a mattress could approach him directly, as he was willing to purchase more if necessary. However, he made it clear that this gesture did not address his primary concern about the unaccounted donations.

The incident has raised questions about the management practices at Umaisha General Hospital and the accountability of its staff in handling donated resources. The lawmaker emphasized that the donations were made with the welfare of the community in mind, and he urged hospital officials to ensure that such contributions are treated with the respect and transparency they deserve.
