The National Rebirth Agenda has come to the defense of Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, dismissing recent criticisms from the Ondo Redemption Front (ORF) as politically motivated attempts to destabilize his administration. In a statement released on Sunday, Dr. Bala Al-Majeed, the national president of the group, accused the ORF of orchestrating a campaign aimed at distracting the governor from his governance duties.

Highlighting the achievements of Aiyedatiwa’s administration, the National Rebirth Agenda pointed to significant infrastructure developments, including the completion and ongoing work on approximately 190 kilometers of roads across the state. Notable projects include the Akure-Idanre road, which is expected to enhance connectivity and promote economic activities in the region.

In the education sector, the group reported that the governor's administration has successfully recruited 2,100 teachers, covered WAEC examination fees for over 23,000 students, and awarded scholarships to numerous tertiary students. Additionally, 134 primary schools and 60 secondary schools have undergone renovations, demonstrating a commitment to improving educational standards in Ondo State.

The healthcare sector has also seen advancements, with the group noting that over 100 primary healthcare centers have been upgraded. New hospital facilities are set to be established in communities such as Ikare-Akoko, Ore, Okitipupa, and Igbokoda, addressing critical healthcare needs in these areas. The rehabilitation of the Owena Dam Water Supply Project was also cited as a crucial effort to resolve ongoing water access issues in various local government areas.

The National Rebirth Agenda further emphasized the governor's economic initiatives, including agreements for a deep-sea port and a proposed $4 billion petrochemical and fertiliser plant, which are expected to attract substantial private investment to the state.

In response to the ongoing criticisms, the group urged those behind the anti-Aiyedatiwa campaign to redirect their efforts towards supporting President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. They argued that continuous political warfare serves no beneficial purpose for Ondo State and called for a united front to promote the governor's development agenda.

"Those financing these needless campaigns should ask themselves what Ondo State gains from permanent political warfare. If their concern is truly development, they should support the governor's efforts and channel their energy and resources towards strengthening the Tinubu administration and securing the continuity of the reforms that are benefiting the states," the statement read.

The National Rebirth Agenda encouraged Governor Aiyedatiwa to remain focused on his OUR EASE agenda and strengthen ties with the federal government to attract more projects and investments to Ondo State. This comes amid recent legal challenges faced by the governor, who has been barred from contesting for a second term in office, a decision he described as an unnecessary distraction from his current responsibilities.
