In a notable political development, over 500 Islamic clerics and scholars from across Nigeria have officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office. This endorsement was announced following a closed-door meeting held in Jigawa State, which included prominent political figures such as Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and presidential aide Ibrahim Masari.

The gathering, which featured six northern governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), marked a significant moment in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. Although the identities of the governors present were not disclosed, their participation alongside influential religious leaders underscores an early effort to consolidate political support for Tinubu.

Masari, who has been a long-time political ally of Tinubu, played a crucial role in the meeting, emphasizing the importance of religious backing in the political landscape.
