Violent attack on ADC member's family home prompts calls for justice in Rivers State
The African Democratic Congress demands justice following an attack on a member's home in Rivers.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has urgently called for a thorough investigation into the recent attack on the family home of one of its members, Isaiah Thomas, in Ikwerre Local Government Area. The incident, which took place on Wednesday morning, involved unidentified assailants who reportedly arrived in large numbers, armed with guns, and set parts of the residence ablaze.
This violent episode occurred just a day after the official commencement of campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections, raising concerns about the safety of political participants in the region. Isaiah Thomas’ mother, Uchechi Thomas, reported that the attackers not only torched buildings but also destroyed household property. She indicated that the assailants seemed to be searching for her son, who had hosted a meeting for ADC members at their home the previous day.
During a visit to the site of the attack, Gabriel Pidomson, the ADC governorship candidate for Rivers State, condemned the violence, labeling it as unacceptable and contrary to the tenets of democratic engagement. Pidomson urged all political actors and their supporters to embrace tolerance and adhere to lawful conduct in their political activities. He emphasized the need for security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, calling for the identification and prosecution of those responsible for the attack.
Pidomson also appealed for calm among the residents and ADC supporters, stressing that political disagreements should be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means rather than through violent actions that threaten lives and property.
In a similar vein, Chukwudi Dimkpa, the ADC State Chairman, urged the Rivers State Commissioner of Police to ensure that a comprehensive investigation is carried out and that justice is served for those affected by this incident. The ADC leadership reiterated its commitment to peaceful political participation, upholding democratic values, and maintaining the rule of law, while encouraging all political stakeholders to work collaboratively towards fostering peace and security across Rivers State.
