Family and friends celebrate as Nigerian woman welcomes her first child after 20 years of waiting

A Nigerian woman, Hajia Belikisu Ibrahim Akiti, has welcomed her first child, a boy, after 20 years of waiting. Her family members and friends announced the good news on Facebook on Friday, August 11, 2026.

"Alhamdulillah Ya Lateef. 20+ years of waiting, praying hoping and trusting Allah... and finally the long awaited blessing has arrived. It's a baby boy," one Idris Rashidat Adamu wrote. "Congratulations to this incredibly strong woman Hajiya Bilkisu Akiti. Your story is a beautiful reminder that Allah's timing is always perfect. What He has written for you will never pass you by. "May Allah bless your son with good health, wisdom, long life and abundant blessings. After all these years, may your heart be filled with nothing but joy. Ameen."
