Tinubu's government appoints over 40 key officials from Kano, claims Jibrin
Abdulmumin Jibrin highlights President Tinubu's commitment to Kano through appointments.

Abdulmumin Jibrin, the representative for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu has made significant strides in rewarding Kano with more than 40 key political appointments within the federal government. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today, Jibrin emphasized that these appointments reflect Tinubu's dedication to the region and serve as compelling reasons for the people of Kano to continue their support for him.
Jibrin stated, "He (Tinubu) has done excellently well, and you know what, he has given Kano over 40, underline the word, 40 political appointments, key appointments in the federal government. Why will Kano people not vote him?" This statement underscores the lawmaker's belief that the appointments are a testament to the President's commitment to addressing the needs of Kano.
The Punch reported that Tinubu has historically appointed prominent individuals from Kano to significant federal positions. Notable appointments include Mariya Bunkure as Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Ganduje as the chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and Nasiru Gawuna as the chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank.
However, the claim regarding the total number of appointments has not been independently verified through publicly available records. When questioned about the administration's approach to addressing the ongoing economic challenges faced by ordinary citizens, Jibrin acknowledged that communication gaps have previously hindered public awareness of government initiatives. He pointed to the completion of the Bichi railway station and the ongoing activities at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital as examples of projects that residents are beginning to recognize.
"I told you the last time when I was having a gathering, that people were shocked to hear that the Bichi station has been completed... someone is going to the hospital, getting things done free and coming back home, but he doesn’t know," Jibrin explained, emphasizing the need for better communication about government services.
In addition to federal appointments, Jibrin commended the Kano State Government for its infrastructure development, particularly in rural areas. He noted that local governments are actively completing about five kilometers of road in each area, alongside building and renovating schools and health centers, transforming Kano into a hub of construction activity.
While acknowledging the persistent issue of poverty in Nigeria, Jibrin argued that this challenge has been a longstanding problem across various administrations. He urged that governments should be evaluated based on their efforts to combat poverty rather than the complaints that have been voiced over the years. Jibrin cited historical grievances about hunger that have been echoed during the tenures of past leaders, including Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan, suggesting that the issue is systemic rather than a failure of the current administration alone.
