Abdulmumini Jibrin, a member of the House of Representatives, has issued a stern warning to the opposition party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), regarding their recent actions against President Bola Tinubu. Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Today, Jibrin stated that supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano will not tolerate any ridicule directed at their president, governor, or party.

The remarks come in the wake of an incident where NDC supporters burned Tinubu's signature cap and the APC's broom symbol during a demonstration in Kano. This act of provocation has sparked outrage among APC supporters, who retaliated by burning the Kwankwansiya signature caps associated with NDC leader and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Jibrin emphasized that the APC does not seek trouble but will defend itself against any attacks. He likened the situation to self-defense, stating, "When somebody comes with a knife and he’s trying to cut off my neck, what do you want me to do? To hold it and push it back?" He further asserted that the APC will not allow anyone to insult their president or their party.

The political climate in Kano has become increasingly tense as both parties engage in a war of words and symbolic gestures. Jibrin's comments reflect a broader sentiment among APC supporters who feel that their party and its leaders are under siege from opposition factions.

He reiterated that the APC's approach has always been to focus on campaigning and staying out of conflicts, but they will respond decisively to any further provocations. "We will retaliate because we will not allow anybody to ridicule our president or our governor or our party. We will never allow that. Never, we will not," Jibrin declared.

As the nation approaches the 2027 elections, the rivalry between the APC and NDC is expected to intensify, with both sides preparing for a fierce political battle. Jibrin's statements indicate that the APC is ready to defend its honor and that of its leaders against any perceived slights from the opposition.
