Adedeji Adeleke, the father of renowned Afrobeats artist Davido, has opened up about his reaction upon learning about the significant amounts of money allegedly offered by the opposition for votes during the recent Osun State governorship election. In a viral video, Adeleke revealed that he turned to prayer after hearing that voters were reportedly being offered as much as ₦50,000 for a single vote.

Adeleke expressed his deep concern over the situation, stating that he prayed for voters to accept the money but still choose to support his son’s brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke. He emphasized, "Record me and play it to him. Let Oyetola hear. And let him know the reason why we defeated him."

Reflecting on the election, Adedeji Adeleke pointed out that his family's campaign did not rely on financial incentives, contrasting it with the opposition's alleged spending of ₦60 billion. He stated, "On election day, we didn’t spend any money. They spent 60 billion, as we heard. In some places, they bought most votes for as high as ₦50,000 for a single vote."

His faith played a crucial role in his confidence throughout the electoral process. Adeleke shared that he regularly prays using specific Bible passages, including one from Isaiah 41:10, which he believes reinforces his strength and lack of fear. He remarked, "Because I believe my belief in God Almighty is very strong."

The businessman further explained that his faith has led him to avoid seeking validation or support from influential figures, stating, "That’s why you don’t see me running after people in high places or competing with people to go and visit anyone. I would rather do it in my little corner. I would rather ask God Almighty to help me."

Adedeji Adeleke's comments come after his younger brother, Ademola Adeleke, was declared the winner of the Osun State governorship election, securing a second term in office. This victory has been attributed not only to the support from the electorate but also to the family's commitment to their faith and principles during the campaign.
