The Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, has expressed his gratitude towards corps members who served as ad-hoc personnel during the recent governorship election in the state. Kubiangha highlighted their professionalism, discipline, and commitment throughout the electoral process held on Saturday.
In a statement released on Monday in Osogbo, Kubiangha acknowledged the significant role played by various stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful election. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and cooperation among all parties involved, which contributed to the orderly conduct of the polls.
During the election, Kubiangha personally monitored the activities at several polling units, including Alajue 1, Alajue 2, Akoda/Oloki, and Isibo/Buhari-Isola wards. His visits aimed to assess the safety and welfare of the corps members deployed across these locations.
Kubiangha noted that the corps members adhered closely to the operational guidelines and safety advisories provided during the pre-election sensitization visits. He praised their compliance with directives from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters and the Southwest Area Office 1, which facilitated their effective performance.
"The corps members discharged their responsibilities without fear, intimidation, or undue interference, allowing them to perform their assigned duties effectively," Kubiangha stated. He also reported that while voting concluded in some polling units, it was still ongoing in others, with all deployed corps members remaining safe throughout the exercise.
The NYSC coordinator further commended the officers managing the situation room, as well as the Zonal Inspectors and Local Government Inspectors, for their effective coordination and monitoring of corps members during the election. He also expressed appreciation to security agencies for their role in protecting the corps members and acknowledged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their prompt response to challenges faced during the election.
Kubiangha concluded by reiterating the NYSC's commitment to the safety and welfare of its members, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and dedication to national service as core values for all corps members involved in future electoral processes.
