The Reconciliation Committee of the Rainbow Coalition has made a commitment to ensure that all members are treated with respect and without fear of victimisation, despite any previous political disagreements. This assurance was given during a recent meeting with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, held at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Senator Magnus Abe, the chairman of the committee, stated that the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to foster peace and unity within the political landscape of Rivers State. He emphasized that the committee has been actively engaging with various stakeholders to create a framework that encourages collaboration among members of the political family.

Abe noted, "I’m sure that Rivers people will be very curious to understand exactly what we have been talking about. So, I know that this will be very good news for all Rivers people who are interested in the unity, progress and prosperity of Rivers State." He expressed optimism about the progress made thus far and highlighted the significance of the coalition's unity in transforming the political atmosphere of the state.

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South Zone, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, who participated in the discussions, praised Governor Fubara for facilitating the dialogue. Nwanosike described the meetings as successful and indicative of a renewed sense of family within the coalition. He stated, "This shows clearly to the people of Rivers State that the family is back; sincerely back and soon, they will see the working of the Rainbow Coalition."

Additionally, Chief Ambrose Nwuzi, another key figure in the coalition, highlighted the importance of reconciliation, stating that members who support Governor Fubara have agreed to pursue peace. He acknowledged that political disagreements are common in any society but stressed that reconciliation is the best path forward.

The Rainbow Coalition was formed under the leadership of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, following Governor Fubara's return to his former political alliance. As the coalition continues its reconciliation efforts, members are hopeful that these initiatives will lead to tangible benefits for the people of Rivers State, reinforcing their commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy.
