Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called on traditional rulers to take an active role in the development of their communities, urging them to collaborate with the government for grassroots progress. This appeal was made during the official installation of Oba Abdul Fatai Olatunji Balogun as the Alaye of Imobi Land in Ijebu East Local Government Area.

The governor, represented by Ganiyu Hamzat, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, highlighted the state government's commitment to fostering industrial growth and attracting investments that would benefit the populace. Abiodun stated, "There is no doubt that as a responsible government, our administration has always recognised the roles of our royal fathers in advancing peace and driving rapid development across the state."

He encouraged the people of Imobi to actively support the state government’s investment initiatives, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in ensuring sustainable progress. Abiodun's remarks reflect a broader strategy aimed at integrating traditional leadership into the state’s development framework.

At the installation ceremony, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde, the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, congratulated the new monarch and underscored the joint responsibility of leaders and citizens in promoting societal advancement. He stressed the need for resource harnessing to facilitate effective leadership.

Oba Adebisi Okubanjo, the Obiri of Aiyepe, also spoke at the event, advocating for an inclusive reign in Imobi Land. He noted that fostering loyalty and trust among the people would be crucial for the new king's success.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Balogun expressed gratitude to the Ogun State Government and pledged to lead transformative initiatives within Imobi. His installation marks the culmination of a traditional selection process that began under the late Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

The Imobi Obaship Committee, supported by Oba Babatunde Olaogun Ogunlaja, played a significant role in the selection process, which faced skepticism from some quarters. However, the confirmation and installation of Oba Balogun have been welcomed as a successful conclusion to the traditional selection process.

Community stakeholders have called for unity among Imobi indigenes and residents, urging them to set aside differences and collaborate for the development of their community. They emphasized the need to avoid disunity and embrace collective responsibility under the new leadership.

The installation of Oba Balogun, who is now referred to as Gbadewolu I, is seen as a pivotal moment for Imobi Land, with hopes that his reign will usher in peace, unity, and enhanced cooperation among various community groups. The occasion was well attended by dignitaries, including other traditional rulers and notable community leaders, all of whom are expected to play a role in supporting the new monarch's vision for development.
