The Federal Government has officially launched academic activities at the newly established Federal Technical College located in Eke, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. This initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative, which aims to revamp the education sector and cultivate a skilled workforce to drive the nation’s industrial and technological growth.

During a recent address to prospective students and their parents at the college’s supplementary examination centre, Principal Mr. Gideon Angbeye emphasized the institution's role in addressing Nigeria's skill gap. He stated that the Federal Government is committed to providing high-quality technical education to all pioneer students at no cost. This initiative includes covering tuition fees, supplying student uniforms, and providing nutritious daily meals throughout their studies.

Mr. Angbeye highlighted the comprehensive nature of the college’s curriculum, designed to enhance hands-on skills. The program is divided into three phases: TVET 1 will focus on foundational theory and technical principles; TVET 2 will provide intensive practical exposure; and TVET 3 will integrate advanced practical applications with academic theory. This structured approach aims to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in the technical workforce.

To ensure the delivery of world-class training, the college is forming strategic partnerships with leading industrial research institutes, such as the Projects Development Institute and the Scientific Equipment Development Institute, along with other corporate service providers. These collaborations are intended to enhance the educational experience and provide students with valuable industry insights.

Mr. Angbeye urged the first cohort of students to take full advantage of this unique opportunity, which not only promises to secure their futures but also allows them to contribute significantly to the nation’s development. He also expressed gratitude to the Eke community for their warm hospitality and cooperation, which have been instrumental in facilitating the college's operational launch in Enugu State.
