Benjamin Daniel, popularly known as Ben Dancer, has successfully completed a remarkable 168-hour dance marathon in Lagos, seeking to set a new Guinness World Records title. The 33-year-old dancer began his challenge last Tuesday at Freedom Park, aiming to surpass the existing record of 127 hours, held by Indian dancer Srushti Sudhir Jagtap since 2023.

Daniel's marathon performance drew significant crowds, with supporters gathering at Freedom Park to cheer him on throughout the week. He reached the seven-day milestone at approximately 3 am on Tuesday but continued dancing for an additional nine hours, concluding his challenge at midday. His team confirmed that he maintained a rigorous schedule, incorporating various Nigerian dance styles and musical genres, with Afrobeats being a prominent feature alongside fuji, jazz, and zouk.

In a bid to showcase Nigeria's rich cultural diversity, Daniel wore traditional outfits such as agbada and dashiki during different segments of his performance. The event highlighted the vibrant traditions of Nigeria's over 250 ethnic groups, with each group contributing to the diverse array of dance forms presented.

Prior to the marathon, Daniel underwent extensive fitness training and adjusted his diet to prepare for the physically demanding task. During the marathon, he was permitted five minutes of rest for every hour of continuous dancing, ensuring he remained hydrated and energized. Medical personnel were on-site throughout the event to monitor his health and well-being.

Guinness World Records has acknowledged receipt of Daniel's application but has not yet confirmed the new record. A spokesperson stated, "Benjamin's application is active and we now eagerly await submission of his evidence, which will then go through our official review and verification process before any record can be confirmed."

Following the completion of his marathon, Daniel was taken to the hospital for a medical check-up, ensuring that he was in good health after the grueling challenge. As he awaits the official verdict from Guinness World Records, the dancer's accomplishment has already garnered widespread admiration and support from fans and fellow artists alike.
