Desmond Elliot, a prominent Lagos State lawmaker and actor, publicly apologized to Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, during a recent meeting aimed at mending fences following a turbulent period in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections.

In a heartfelt display of contrition, Elliot was seen kneeling and prostrating before Gbajabiamila, expressing deep regret for his actions that may have caused friction within the party. A video shared on social media platform X by Lagos Junction captured the moment, showcasing Elliot’s plea for reconciliation with the APC leadership in Lagos.

“I’m sorry. I have no excuse; I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry. I’m deeply sorry, sir,” Elliot stated, acknowledging that he may have been misguided during the primary elections. He further emphasized his commitment to the party’s unity and pledged to renew his loyalty to its leadership.

Elliot's apology comes in the wake of a leadership crisis within the Lagos State House of Assembly, which has been marked by internal disagreements among APC members. Gbajabiamila had previously revealed that he faced challenges at the Presidency, linked to allegations regarding Elliot’s involvement in the Assembly speakership tussle, claims that Elliot has denied.

Reflecting on his relationship with Gbajabiamila, Elliot remarked, “I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him.” He reiterated his respect for his political mentor, stating, “To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way.”
