'They believe Presidency will write results' - Kwankwaso speaks about Governors joining the APC
Rabiu Kwankwaso has voiced serious concerns over governors defecting to the APC, fearing electoral manipulation. He urges for transparency and accountability to maintain public trust in the electoral process.
Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has alleged that state governors defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are doing so under the belief that the presidency will write election results in their favor for the 2027 general elections.
In an interview with News Central TV, the former Kano State governor described the political climate as unfortunate, stating that politicians no longer rely on the mandate of voters.
According to him, those defecting to the ruling party believe security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are on their side, stressing that desperation is driving many governors to take extreme measures.
"It is not only the governor of Kano that is in APC. Almost all the governors are of the opinion that they should join the ruling party because they believe that the presidency will write results for them."
