Northern Senators Urge Action Following Deadly Taraba Community Attack
The Northern Senators Forum is calling for justice and enhanced security in Taraba after a violent attack.

The Northern Senators Forum has demanded immediate action from security agencies following a devastating attack in the Binari community of Karim-Lamido Local Government Area in Taraba State on October 23. The incident resulted in significant loss of life and destruction of property, prompting the senators to call for a thorough investigation into the violence.
Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, who leads the forum, expressed deep condolences in a message released on Monday. He condemned the attack as barbaric and conveyed sympathy to the Taraba State Government, the residents of the affected community, and the families of the victims. The senator noted that the news of the killings came as a shock to the forum, which stands in solidarity with those grieving the loss of their loved ones.
In light of the tragedy, the forum emphasized the urgent need for security operatives to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. They called for the establishment of a Forward Operating Base in the region and urged for intensified intelligence-led security operations to enhance safety in Karim-Lamido and surrounding areas along the River Benue corridor.
Yar’Adua specifically highlighted the importance of deploying intelligence-led patrols along critical routes, such as the Kompany-Asusar route, to prevent future violence. The senators stressed that coordinated security operations are essential to track down the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice.
Furthermore, the forum has appealed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and compassionate individuals to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected by the violence. They underscored the necessity of relief support for victims and their families, as well as measures to address the immediate humanitarian challenges arising from the incident.
The attack, which reportedly targeted worshippers, vigilantes, women, and children shortly after Juma’at prayers, has reignited calls for stronger security measures in vulnerable communities across Taraba State. The Northern Senators Forum is urging relevant authorities to take decisive actions to protect residents, prevent further violence, and ensure accountability for the heinous acts committed against innocent civilians.
