In a significant move to enhance voter participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has rolled out QR codes aimed at assisting eligible voters in Lagos State locate their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres.

The initiative was announced during a press conference held at INEC's Lagos headquarters, where Professor Ayobami Salami, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, emphasized the importance of voters collecting their PVCs and verifying their registration details. He encouraged eligible voters to utilize the QR codes, which can be accessed and scanned via INEC's official website and social media platforms, to easily identify their designated collection locations.

Professor Salami highlighted the necessity for voters to obtain election-related information from official sources, reiterating that informed participation is crucial for a successful electoral process. "It is essential for every eligible voter to ensure they have their PVCs before election day to exercise their right to vote," he stated.

In addition to the QR code initiative, INEC is actively preparing for the elections through various measures. These include the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, enhancements to the result transmission systems, and meticulous logistics planning. Furthermore, the commission is focused on the recruitment and training of personnel who will facilitate the electoral process.

The introduction of QR codes is part of INEC's broader strategy to make voter information more accessible and to encourage residents to collect their PVCs in a timely manner. As the election date approaches, the commission aims to ensure that all eligible voters are adequately informed and prepared to participate in the democratic process.
