He recalled his optimism about high voters' turnout in the election during a press briefing on Thursday, which he said had been confirmed at various polling units across the state, describing it as unprecedented.

The CP linked the turnout to the high level of confidence that voters had expressed over security arrangements put in place.

CP Shogunle assured that there would be continued monitoring of situations, while adjustments would be made when necessary.

Speaking on the Isan Ekiti incident which occurred on Friday, CP Shogunle noted wit had nothing to do with the election, but occurred as a result of a football match played in the community.

"The fracas started from the football match, and it has nothing to do with politics or election. And as we speak, voting is ongoing in that same community," he stated.

The CP later visited Isan Ekiti where he assessed the damages at a police station attacked by the rioters, before proceeding to Ward 11, Unit 007 and Ward 11 Unit 10 to observe the voting process.

When Tribune Online visited the destroyed Divisional Police headquarters in Isan Ekiti, burnt vehicles and other items were seen destroyed, while the fence around the police station was also vandalised.

Police officers on duty were seen standing and hanging around the burnt police station with no office to operate in.

A voter, Hon. Fausat Bosede Salami at Ward 11, Unit 007 in Isan Ekiti said there was a low turnout of voters due to the Friday incident in the town, stating however that the voting went on peacefully.

An APC agent, Kayode Salami, at Ward 11 Unit 10 also confirmed that the election went peacefully in Isan Ekiti without any disruption. He said the police officers were on the ground to provide security.

He expressed confidence that the results collation at the ward level would go on peacefully without any incident.

The party agent also commended the people of the state and stakeholders for their orderliness, saying they contributed to the achievement of a peaceful election.
