Thomas Markle Sr. arrested in Florida over child abuse material allegations
The father of Meghan Markle, Thomas Markle Sr., faces serious charges related to child sexual abuse material following an FBI investigation.

Thomas Markle Sr., the father of Meghan Markle, has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Florida amid serious allegations involving child sexual abuse material. The arrest took place near Tampa, Florida, and was confirmed by a U.S. Justice Department official, although specific details regarding the charges were not disclosed.
Reports indicate that the 82-year-old was apprehended at his senior living community in Lakeland, Florida. This development follows a significant investigation that uncovered disturbing materials linked to Markle in the Philippines and Mexico. According to sources, a collection of images was discovered by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., while he was clearing out his father’s former residence in Cebu City, Philippines. Markle Jr. reported finding “hundreds, if not thousands” of images, which prompted him to alert the authorities.
The Philippine National Police subsequently obtained a court warrant to examine digital devices that were recovered from the property. Police Major General Wilson Asueta confirmed that investigators found files containing suspected child sexual abuse and exploitation materials. He stated, “We were able to find that there are files consisting of several CSEAM (Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act) materials.” The investigation is ongoing, with authorities yet to determine the origin of the recordings or whether Markle appears in any of the files.
Additional reports indicate that similar abusive material was also found in a storage unit associated with Markle in Rosarito, Mexico. The FBI has acknowledged its involvement in the investigation and is working in conjunction with Philippine authorities to address the allegations.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Thomas Markle Sr. has vehemently denied the allegations against him. In a previous interview with the Daily Mail, he expressed his shock and hurt over his son's accusations, labeling them as false and damaging. He stated, “I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of. This is bullshit. It’s just a bunch of lies.”
Meghan Markle has also publicly expressed her distress regarding the allegations against her father. In a statement, she conveyed her concern for any children who may have been harmed and revealed that troubling allegations against Thomas Markle Sr. had been reported to the Metropolitan Police in London back in 2018. She emphasized that her decision to keep her father away from her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, was solely to protect them.
The investigation continues to unfold as authorities work to determine the full scope of the allegations. The FBI has stated that it will provide support to the Philippine authorities as necessary and will investigate any related violations of U.S. law. As the situation develops, the implications for Thomas Markle Sr. and his family remain significant and complex.
