Digital Imam demands justice for slain Katsina cleric Sheikh Masussuka
Muhammad Nure Khalid calls for government action following the assassination of Sheikh Masussuka.

Prominent Islamic cleric Muhammad Nure Khalid, widely known as the Digital Imam, has urged the Nigerian government to take decisive action in identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the assassination of Katsina-based cleric Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka. Khalid made this appeal during an inter-faith peace gathering in Katsina, where he emphasized the need for justice and cautioned against the potential for violence stemming from the cleric's death.
In an exclusive interview, Khalid stated, "The government should have the responsibility of finding who they are and prosecuting them," highlighting the critical role of authorities in ensuring that justice is served. He expressed concern that while many of Masussuka's followers embraced his message of peaceful coexistence, there were others who might exploit his assassination to incite unrest in the country.
Khalid noted the dual nature of Masussuka's followers, saying, "There are those who understand his message of peace, and I want them to continue. But there are some who will hide behind his assassination and cause trouble for Nigeria." He urged the government to act swiftly to prevent any escalation of insecurity that could arise from the situation.
The Digital Imam attended the peace gathering, which had been planned prior to Masussuka's assassination, to promote prayers for peaceful and fair elections in Nigeria. He stressed the importance of unity and stability in the country, especially in light of the ongoing security and political challenges.
Reflecting on the public's response to Masussuka's death, Khalid remarked that the outpouring of sympathy indicated the significance of the late cleric's message. He stated, "Had it been they know it will turn out like this, they wouldn’t have killed him, because they are pushing to a destination, and a positive destination. Now, look at the sympathisers he gained after their dastardly and wicked action."
In addition to discussing the assassination, Khalid addressed criticisms he has faced regarding his religious identity. He rejected claims made by some social media users that he was not a true Muslim, asserting that individuals do not have the authority to determine another person's faith. He argued that such accusations contribute to divisions within the Muslim community and can exacerbate tensions between Muslims and Christians.
Khalid emphasized the need for Nigerians to reject religious hostility and work towards peaceful coexistence. He stated, "It is time for Nigeria to live in peace. It is time for Nigeria to live in peace." His remarks come amid increasing calls for justice and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sheikh Masussuka's assassination, underscoring the urgency of the situation as the nation grapples with security concerns and the need for unity.
