The Ekiti State Government has commenced the distribution of appointment letters to 1,522 newly recruited junior healthcare workers aimed at bolstering service delivery across the state's primary healthcare centres. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to address the existing manpower shortages in the healthcare sector and improve essential services at the grassroots level.

Dr. Funke Ogunbunmi, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency, highlighted the significance of this recruitment, noting it as a vital intervention for enhancing healthcare services. In a statement released in Ado Ekiti, she praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his approval of the recruitment, emphasizing his commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of residents through strategic investments in healthcare.

Ogunbunmi stated, "The recruitment reflects the governor’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare facilities and ensuring access to quality medical services in all communities." She underscored the importance of adequate staffing in creating a functional and responsive healthcare system, asserting that the newly recruited personnel would significantly enhance the operational efficiency of frontline health facilities.

The recruitment process commenced on Wednesday, October 28, and is set to conclude on Tuesday, November 3. The agency is issuing appointment letters in batches of 300 daily to ensure an orderly collection and verification process. Successful candidates include Laboratory Assistants, Health Assistants, and Health Attendants.

Candidates have been instructed to report to the agency's registry in Ado Ekiti on their designated days, bringing original copies of their credentials for verification. Ogunbunmi emphasized that appointment letters would only be released after the necessary documents have been thoroughly verified. She urged successful candidates to review the released list and adhere to the outlined requirements to facilitate a smooth collection process.

This recruitment drive is expected to play a crucial role in improving healthcare outcomes in Ekiti State, as the new staff will be instrumental in meeting the healthcare needs of the local population. The agency remains committed to ensuring that the recruits contribute positively to the healthcare system, thereby enhancing the quality of services available to residents.
