Father sentenced to 30 years for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old daughter in Uyo
Samuel Adesina receives 30-year prison term for sexual assault against his daughter.

A 47-year-old man, Samuel Adesina, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Akwa Ibom State High Court for the sexual assault of his 14-year-old daughter. The ruling was delivered by Justice Gabriel Ette on October 29, 2026, in Uyo, where the convict resides.
Adesina, originally from Ondo State, was found guilty of both rape and incest after the court evaluated the evidence presented. According to reports, the offenses took place at his home on Aka Itiam Road, Uyo, beginning during the COVID-19 lockdown in May 2020. In a shocking revelation, Adesina confessed to having engaged in sexual intercourse with his daughter over an extended period.
During the trial, Justice Ette referenced Section 135(1) of the Evidence Act 2011, as amended, to assess the evidence against Adesina. The court's findings confirmed the severity of the crimes, leading to a sentence of 20 years for the charge of rape and an additional 10 years for incest, culminating in a total of 30 years behind bars.
This case highlights the ongoing issues of sexual violence and abuse within families, prompting calls for increased awareness and protective measures for vulnerable individuals, particularly minors. The court's decision serves as a reminder of the legal system's commitment to addressing such heinous acts and ensuring justice for victims of sexual assault.
