Troops from the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, successfully neutralized three suspected terrorists and seized significant items during operations in Kaduna and Sokoto states on October 29 and 30, 2026.

The operations began on October 29 when troops engaged in a fighting patrol along the Shadow–Old Kuyello Road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. During this patrol, they came under attack from armed terrorists. In a swift response, the troops utilized superior firepower to repel the assault. Following the encounter, they pursued the attackers, resulting in the neutralization of three terrorists. The operation also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, three rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle.

Captain Tamuno Sinivie, the Acting Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, confirmed that there were no casualties among the troops during this engagement. He emphasized the effectiveness of the troops in countering the threats posed by armed groups in the region.

In a separate operation on October 30, the same sector of the task force recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep that had been abandoned by suspected cattle rustlers in Shanono town, located in the Shanono Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The suspected criminals fled the scene upon noticing the advancing patrol, leaving the livestock behind. Captain Sinivie stated that efforts are underway to hand over the recovered animals to the relevant authorities.

The Joint Task Force remains committed to ongoing operations aimed at combating terrorism and other criminal activities in the North-West region of Nigeria. The military has called on the public to assist security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid in restoring peace and security in the area.
