The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council's Directorate of Women Mobilisation has launched a compassionate outreach initiative in Kaduna State, visiting hospitals to engage with vulnerable patients, particularly women and children. This initiative comes as part of the party's grassroots activities leading up to a major rally scheduled for Saturday.

The outreach was led by Dr. Betta Edu, who acted on the directive of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The team made stops at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and Yusuf Dansoho Memorial Hospital, where they interacted with patients, healthcare workers, and hospital administrators, conveying a message of care and support from the First Lady.

Notable participants in the outreach included Senators Binta Masi Garba and Olujimi, alongside Elizabeth Ogenyi, Ada Ode, and Gloria Akobundu, as well as Munirat Tanimu, the Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly. During the visit, Dr. Edu emphasized the Federal Government's healthcare initiatives aimed at supporting pregnant women and vulnerable Nigerians.

"Our President has done a lot in the health sector and is working on more reforms that will provide affordable healthcare for Nigerians," Edu stated. She highlighted that pregnant women in selected hospitals across the nation are currently benefiting from free maternal healthcare services, which include delivery, Caesarean sections, and essential medications. Furthermore, she noted additional interventions such as subsidies for renal dialysis and cancer care, aimed at alleviating the financial burdens associated with accessing crucial medical services.

Dr. Edu also praised the First Lady for her contributions to maternal healthcare through the Renewed Hope Initiative. This initiative has notably supported midwives' training and provided necessary equipment to enhance maternal health services, ultimately working to reduce maternal mortality rates in Nigeria.

The outreach was designed not only to show compassion and solidarity with patients but also to raise awareness about the healthcare needs of women, children, and other vulnerable groups. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude towards President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady for the outreach, while many voiced their support for Tinubu's re-election, hoping that the free maternal healthcare initiatives would continue and expand to benefit more Nigerians.

Additionally, beneficiaries acknowledged the positive impact of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has eased the financial burden on families with children pursuing higher education. This hospital visit is part of a broader strategy by the Directorate to engage with communities, combining humanitarian outreach with public awareness of the policies under President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. Organisers stated that this initiative underscores the importance of strengthening community support systems and improving access to healthcare, especially for women and children who often face financial and other barriers to essential medical services.
