During the 24th Founder’s Day Anniversary Thanksgiving of Covenant University, Chancellor Dr. David Oyedepo expressed his unwavering belief that the institution will rise to global prominence, comparing it to Harvard University in the United States. This declaration came during a ceremony held in Ota, Ogun State, where Oyedepo attributed the university's achievements and growing international recognition to divine guidance and the vision that led to its establishment.

In his address themed "Seven Hidden Treasures of Thanksgiving," Oyedepo emphasized the importance of spirituality in sustaining the university's progress. He stated, "Whatever cannot stop the sun from shining cannot stop Covenant University from advancing," highlighting his confidence in the institution's future. He described thanksgiving as a powerful spiritual force that not only strengthens believers but also facilitates breakthroughs and sustains progress, even in challenging times.

Drawing from biblical references, including Psalm 92:1–15 and John 6:6–12, Oyedepo urged the university community to embrace gratitude as a means to overcome adversity. He cautioned against negativity, encouraging students and staff to cultivate a spirit of thanksgiving and remain steadfast in their commitment to God.

Reflecting on the university's inception, Oyedepo recounted a significant encounter with God on February 12, 2002, which confirmed his vision for the institution. He recalled the divine assurance he received, which solidified his belief that Covenant University was ordained for greatness. He encouraged students, referred to as Covenant Eagles, to prioritize spirituality in their academic and personal endeavors.

Pastor Faith Oyedepo, the Pro-Chancellor, also spoke at the event, calling it a moment to recognize God’s faithfulness and the university's growth. She highlighted the introduction of new academic programs, including Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Mechatronics, as evidence of the institution's commitment to expanding its educational offerings.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Timothy Anake expressed gratitude for the university's sustained success, praising the leadership of the chancellor and pro-chancellor. He noted the institution's impressive performance in national and international rankings, which reflects its dedication to research, innovation, and producing competitive graduates.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lanre Amodu shared recent achievements, including institutional awards and enhanced international visibility. He also announced a significant N200 million pledge from alumnus Dickson Nsofor, founder of KoraPay, aimed at supporting underprivileged students, showcasing the university's commitment to excellence and service.

Mr. Segun Aremu, President of the Covenant University Alumni Association, conveyed the alumni's gratitude towards Oyedepo for his lasting impact on their lives. Speaking on behalf of over 20,000 alumni globally, he reaffirmed their dedication to upholding the university's vision and values.

The anniversary celebration served not only as a reflection on Covenant University's journey but also as a renewed commitment to its mission of nurturing a new generation of leaders through faith-based education, innovation, and character development.
