Former Nigerian international footballer Emmanuel Emenike has publicly criticized the Imo State Police Command following disturbing incidents at his hospital in Owerri. Emenike alleges that police officers, along with officials from the state waste management agency, invaded his medical facility, assaulted staff and patients, and unlawfully detained two of his employees.

The incidents reportedly took place on two separate occasions. Emenike claims that on September 25, officers from the Oji Police Station, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Owerri Urban Division, first assaulted his staff. A second raid occurred on October 21, during which police and waste management officials allegedly arrested the hospital's administrator and cashier in a violent manner.

In a series of posts shared on social media, Emenike expressed his outrage over the treatment he and his staff have received. He stated that after dedicating his career to representing Nigeria on the international stage and investing in his home country, he feels targeted and harassed by the authorities. He called for an immediate investigation by the Imo State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and other relevant oversight bodies.

Emenike is demanding the unconditional release of his detained staff members, who he claims were brutalized while in custody at the Oji Police Station. He has also requested that CCTV footage from the hospital be preserved as evidence of the incidents, and that medical care be provided for those injured during the raids.

As of now, there has been no official response from either the Imo State Police Command or the state waste management agency regarding Emenike's serious allegations. However, the former football star has shared video footage on social media that appears to show security agents and government officials arresting his staff, further fueling public interest in the case.

Emenike's situation highlights ongoing concerns about police conduct and the treatment of citizens in Nigeria, particularly in instances involving law enforcement and government agencies. The outcome of this incident could have significant implications for how such cases are handled in the future.
