The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Chief Sunday Inyima, has strongly rejected claims suggesting that the recent murder of his younger brother, Mr. Egeonu Inyima, was driven by political motives. In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abakaliki, Inyima labeled these allegations as misleading and fabricated.

Inyima emphasized that his brother was not engaged in any political disputes, countering insinuations that the murder could be linked to political conflict. He expressed concern over the potential for such claims to incite unnecessary tension within the community.

The tragic incident reportedly took place in Umuogudu-Oshia Ngbo, located in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, where Egeonu Inyima was allegedly attacked by unidentified assailants. The commissioner described the act as barbaric and regrettable, expressing his grief over the loss of his brother.

During a visit from members of the All Progressives Congress in Ohaukwu, who came to offer their condolences, Inyima reiterated the importance of a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his brother's death. He assured the public that his family, in collaboration with local security agencies, would do everything possible to ensure that justice is served.

In his statement, Inyima urged law enforcement agencies to conduct their investigations transparently and without bias, warning against any interference that could compromise the legal process. He stated, “Though I am severely traumatised by the gruesome murder of my younger brother, I would not want anyone to suffer unjustly. No innocent person should be implicated or made to suffer for a crime he or she did not commit.”

The commissioner called for the police and other relevant authorities to ensure that the investigation is thorough and that those responsible for the crime are brought to justice. He stressed that the legal process must be allowed to unfold without external interference, reinforcing his commitment to seeing justice served for his brother’s untimely death.
