In a significant enforcement action, operatives from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) have uncovered a large-scale counterfeit alcoholic beverage operation in Lagos, with products valued at over N2 billion. The raid took place earlier today at the International Trade Fair Complex, where officers discovered more than 20 illegal stores engaged in the blending and counterfeiting of popular alcoholic brands.

The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence, leading NAFDAC's Investigation & Enforcement Directorate to the makeshift parking stores where the illicit activities were taking place. During the raid, officers found suspects actively involved in the revalidation of expired and unsafe beverages, preparing them for resale. Additionally, the enforcement team seized stockpiled banned imported products that posed a risk to public health.

Two suspects were apprehended during the operation, and the seized products have been evacuated from the premises. This enforcement action underscores NAFDAC's commitment to ensuring the safety and integrity of food and beverage products in Nigeria. The agency continues to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to counterfeit goods to help combat this growing issue.

The discovery of such a large-scale operation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by regulatory agencies in curbing the distribution of unsafe and counterfeit products in the market. NAFDAC has reiterated its dedication to protecting consumers and maintaining the standards of food and drug safety across the country.
