Charges against Adeniyi Adeyemi dismissed as Federal Government seeks new trial venue
The Federal High Court has dismissed charges against Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of leading a fake agency.

In a significant legal development, Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the eight-count criminal charges against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who was alleged to be the Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). This decision was made during a court session on Monday, following a request from the Federal Government to terminate the trial.
The Director of the Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, presented an application to the court, indicating that the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, had reviewed the case and identified several deficiencies in the charges initially filed by the Inspector General of Police. Oyedepo explained that the documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi were more appropriately addressed in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) rather than the Federal High Court.
As a result of this review, the DPPF informed the court that a new charge had already been filed at the High Court of the FCT, where Adeyemi would face fresh arraignment. He urged Justice Umar to strike out the existing charges, which he did without objection from Adeyemi's legal representative, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN.
Adeniyi Adeyemi, aged 38, is not the only individual implicated in this case. He is being tried alongside two other suspects, whose identities remain largely unknown and who are currently at large. These individuals are reportedly involved in charges of conspiracy and forgery related to the operations of the fake agency.
The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025, has drawn attention due to the serious nature of the allegations against Adeyemi and his associates. With the charges now dismissed in the Federal High Court, the focus will shift to the upcoming proceedings in the High Court of the FCT, where the new arraignment is expected to take place expeditiously.
