Fufore Local Government Chairman Yahya Saidu dies shortly after taking office
Yahya Saidu, the chairman of Fufore LGA in Adamawa, has passed away just three months post-inauguration.

The chairman of Fufore Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Dr. Yahya Saidu, has died in a Kaduna hospital, a tragic event occurring less than three months after he was sworn into office. Saidu, who took office on July 15, 2026, represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was regarded as a dedicated public servant.
The news of his passing was met with sorrow by the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). In a statement released on Saturday, the state ALGON chairman, Titus Obadiah, expressed deep condolences, describing Saidu as a committed leader whose contributions to both Fufore and Adamawa State would be profoundly missed.
Obadiah stated, "It is with a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty God that I received the sad news of the passing of the executive chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, Dr. Yahaya Saidu." He emphasized the loss felt not only by Saidu's family but also by the constituents and the entire state, highlighting the impact of Saidu's leadership.
The ALGON chairman further remarked, "Dr. Yahaya Saidu was a committed leader who gave his best in service to his people. My heart goes out to his family, friends, associates, and the good people of Fufore Local Government Area during this very difficult time." He also offered prayers for strength and comfort to the bereaved family and the residents of Fufore.
Saidu's death follows the passing of his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, who died while still in office on April 23, 2025. This recent loss has raised concerns about stability within the local government, as the community mourns the sudden departure of its leader and reflects on the challenges ahead in filling his position.
