The Lagos State Government has launched an initiative to encourage young residents to participate in the ongoing military recruitment exercise. The call, specifically targeting youths aged between 18 and 26, aims to ensure that the state meets its recruitment quota for the current season.
During a recent meeting with local government secretaries and representatives from the Police Community Relations Committee, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, emphasized the importance of youth involvement. She stated, "We want a lot of our children between the ages of 18 and 26 to apply so that Lagos State can meet its quota again for this season."
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, was not solely focused on recruitment but also addressed broader issues concerning security, governance, and preparations for the upcoming elections. Salu-Hundeyin highlighted the crucial role of local government secretaries in ensuring effective communication and coordination at the grassroots level. She urged them to relay developments in their areas to their respective chairmen and escalate any issues that require state intervention.
In her remarks, Salu-Hundeyin reiterated the state government's commitment to enhancing governance and improving the welfare of residents. She noted that the meeting served as a platform for discussing strategies to maintain peace and security in Lagos ahead of the elections. Salu-Hundeyin remarked, "The state government has given a marching order that, as usual, more than ever before, Lagos must remain peaceful." This statement underscores the government's proactive approach to ensuring a stable environment as the elections approach.
The discussions aimed not only at military recruitment but also at fostering a collaborative effort among stakeholders to enhance governance and living conditions for Lagos residents.
