Troops from Sector 2 of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) successfully rescued six individuals who had been kidnapped in Plateau State during operations on October 6, 2026. The rescues occurred in Wase Local Government Area, where troops responded to intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorists.

The first rescue operation took place around noon when troops stationed at Kukawa received reports about the suspected terrorists heading towards Wanka Village. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the swift response from the troops forced the terrorists to abandon their captives and flee on motorcycles. In the aftermath, two victims were found and rescued; they were identified as Muhammed Jibo, 14, and Muhammed Yahaya, 12. The boys revealed they had been kidnapped on September 6 while en route to meet their father at a farm in Dadin Kowa Village, located in Kanam Local Government Area.

In a separate engagement later that day, troops on patrol from Yuli Village encountered suspected terrorists on the outskirts. During this confrontation, the terrorists abandoned four more kidnapped victims and escaped into the nearby forest. The rescued individuals were identified as Yakubu Yahaya, 25; Yahuza Dapji, 22; Yahaya Jibo, 20; and Sani Abubakar, 18, all hailing from Dadin Kowa Village.

Following their rescue, the four victims were handed over to the Village Head of Yuli for further assistance and necessary actions. The coordinated efforts of the troops highlight the ongoing commitment of the Nigerian military to combat kidnapping and terrorism in the region, as they continue to respond to threats against civilians and restore security in Plateau State.
