Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, the chairman of BUA Group, has reported a significant increase in dollar inflows into Nigeria, suggesting that the country is currently receiving more dollars than naira. This observation comes as part of his comments following a visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, where he expressed optimism about the ongoing economic reforms under the current administration.

Rabiu emphasized the importance of patience among Nigerians as the government implements its reform agenda. He noted that while challenges remain, the foreign exchange reforms are beginning to yield positive results. "Things are actually getting better. It takes a bit of time, no doubt. And I know that Nigerians are going through a lot. But we need to be a bit more patient," he stated.

During his visit, Rabiu also conveyed his well-wishes to President Tinubu, who had just returned from a vacation, and took the opportunity to celebrate Nigeria's 66th Independence Day, which coincidentally marks the year of his own birth.

In discussing the foreign exchange market, Rabiu pointed out that the exchange rate has shown signs of stability, with improvements noted over the past week. He reported a decrease in the exchange rate by approximately N20 to the dollar, indicating a more favorable economic environment for businesses.

"If you look at the foreign exchange situation today, I think there are probably more dollars coming into Nigeria than even naira that we have now," Rabiu remarked, highlighting the shift in currency inflow dynamics.

The BUA chairman's comments reflect a growing confidence among business leaders in Nigeria's economic trajectory, despite the ongoing challenges faced by citizens. He reiterated that the reforms are not only necessary but are also beginning to show tangible benefits for the business community.

As the country navigates through these economic changes, Rabiu's insights may serve as a beacon of hope for many Nigerians, urging them to remain steadfast as the government works towards stabilizing the economy and improving the living conditions for its citizens.
