Halle Berry denies child abuse claims made by ex-husband Olivier Martinez
Halle Berry's attorney calls allegations of abuse against her son 'meritless' as legal battle continues.

Halle Berry has publicly denied allegations made by her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, claiming that she physically abused their 12-year-old son, Maceo. The accusations have escalated into a legal dispute, with Martinez recently obtaining a restraining order against Berry.
Martinez's claims, which include allegations that Berry choked Maceo during an incident at her home, have been met with strong rebuttals from Berry's legal team. Her attorney, Marina Beck, described the allegations as "entirely meritless and deliberately misleading." Beck further accused Martinez of violating court orders and interfering with their son's therapeutic and educational needs, stating, "There is voluminous evidence, including numerous judicial rulings, that Olivier Martinez repeatedly violated court orders and interfered with necessary therapeutic and educational interventions to the detriment of his and Halle Berry's minor son Maceo."
The restraining order, granted by the court, requires Berry to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Martinez but does not prevent her from having unsupervised visitation with Maceo. This aspect of the ruling suggests that the court did not find sufficient grounds to restrict Berry's access to her son, despite the serious nature of the allegations.
Beck also highlighted Martinez's past behavior, stating, "In a way, today's filing is not entirely unexpected from an individual with a well-documented history of erratic, possessive and violent behavior." She expressed that Berry is committed to prioritizing Maceo's welfare amidst the ongoing legal challenges.
The backdrop to this dispute includes Martinez's own history of violent behavior, notably a 2012 altercation with Gabriel Aubry, Berry's former partner and father of her daughter, Nahla. During that incident, Aubry alleged that Martinez threatened him and physically assaulted him, leading to significant injuries. Berry's representatives disputed Aubry's account, claiming he was the aggressor.
Berry and Martinez were married in 2013 but separated in 2016, finalizing their divorce in 2023. They share custody of Maceo, and the current allegations are part of a broader legal battle that continues to unfold. It is important to note that the restraining order obtained by Martinez does not equate to a judicial finding of abuse against Berry.
As the situation develops, Berry remains focused on providing a stable and loving environment for her son, despite the tumultuous circumstances surrounding their family.
