Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, is celebrating a significant milestone as she marks the fourth anniversary of her Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) victory while also making history in the boxing ring. On October 2, 2022, Phyna emerged as the winner of the seventh season of BBNaija, and this year, she added another feather to her cap by winning Nigeria's first female celebrity boxing match.

The reality star's boxing victory came during the Chaos in the Ring Celebrity Championship, held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. Phyna defeated Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing by knockout, a win she described as a testament to her determination to break barriers and challenge herself. Reflecting on her dual achievements, Phyna expressed her pride in her journey, stating, "October 2nd will forever be a special date in my life. Today marks the anniversary of the day I won BBN, and now, years later, I’m celebrating another historic victory becoming the first female boxer to step into this ring and win this fight."

In her post-fight comments, Phyna emphasized her desire to inspire other women, saying, "This one is for every woman who has ever been told she couldn’t. We can. We will. And we absolutely should." Her victory not only brought her personal satisfaction but also a cash prize of ₦50 million, which she plans to use to further her boxing career.

Phyna's transition from reality television to the boxing ring showcases her versatility and ambition. She expressed gratitude to Balmoral Promotions and Bet9ja for the opportunity to compete, describing October 2 as a date of victory, courage, and new beginnings. Following her win, Phyna has set her sights on future challenges, naming actress Etinosa Idemudia as her next potential opponent. Phyna accused Etinosa of sending her distracting messages and stated, "I think it is time I teach her a lesson."

Etinosa, who attended the match, accepted the challenge, affirming her readiness to fight, saying, "I have been advising you to carry the Edo name with pride. We do not run from any fight. I accept the challenge fully."

The Chaos in the Ring event also featured other notable matches, including skit maker Carter Efe's victory over musician Speed Darlington by technical knockout. Additionally, Ghana's Seth "Freezy Macbones" Gyimah defeated Nigeria's Godday "Zodsolo" Appah by unanimous decision to claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.

Phyna's remarkable achievements in both reality television and boxing highlight her as a trailblazer for women in sports and entertainment, proving that with determination and courage, one can break through societal expectations.
