A Nigerian woman, known on social media as @assiztpro, has taken to X to celebrate the restoration of electricity to her home after enduring a staggering one year without public power supply. Her post highlights the challenges she faced during this prolonged outage, which left her unable to use essential appliances like a fridge or freezer.

In her social media update, she expressed her disbelief at having survived such a long period without electricity. "A whole year without NEPA light! No fridge, no freezer. 😂" she wrote, capturing the struggle many Nigerians face with unreliable power supply. The restoration of electricity at her residence occurred just the night before her post, prompting a sense of relief and gratitude.

Reflecting on her experience, she noted how the absence of electricity served as a reminder of human resilience. "We finally had electricity last night, and honestly, if someone had told me I would survive this long without using a fridge, I wouldn’t have believed them," she shared. This sentiment resonates with many Nigerians who often endure similar hardships due to inconsistent power supply.

To cope with the situation during the outage, @assiztpro relied on a solar power system. However, she mentioned that the solar setup was insufficient to power her fridge, which further complicated her daily life. Despite this limitation, she expressed gratitude for the solar system that allowed her household to function to some extent. "All thanks to our solar that kept us going, even though it couldn’t power the fridge. Alhamdulillah! ❤️ Adupe lowo olorun oo," she added, showcasing her appreciation for the small mercies amidst the challenges.

Her story highlights the ongoing issues surrounding electricity supply in Nigeria, where many citizens face similar struggles. The return of power not only brings relief but also serves as a reminder of the importance of reliable electricity for daily living. As the nation continues to grapple with power supply challenges, stories like hers shed light on the resilience of the Nigerian spirit in the face of adversity.
