ProTaxi, a new e-hailing platform, has officially launched its operations in Abuja, introducing a fleet of 1,000 electric vehicles aimed at providing affordable transportation options for commuters while creating income opportunities for drivers and their families. This initiative is backed by Promiseland Innovation, a company focused on leveraging technology to uplift ordinary Nigerians from poverty to prosperity.

The launch event, which took place on Thursday, was attended by various stakeholders and marked a significant step towards enhancing mobility in the capital. The Chief Executive Officer of Promiseland Innovation, Amb. Emmanuel Lawrence Oloche, emphasized that ProTaxi is not just another ride-hailing app but a transformative platform designed to change lives. He stated, "Every time a passenger takes a ProTaxi ride, there is a driver behind the wheel, and behind the wheel, you have a driver with a family."

Oloche highlighted the broader vision of Promiseland, which aims to provide tools and opportunities that can change people's circumstances. He noted that the income generated from ProTaxi rides could help families cover essential expenses such as school fees and rent. "For every ride that is booked, a child’s school fee is paid. A house rent is paid. A dream is fulfilled for a better future to be built," he explained.

The initiative is expected to empower thousands of drivers, extending its impact beyond individual livelihoods to their families and communities. Oloche remarked, "When we create opportunities for thousands of drivers, we are not just watching families; we are reshaping communities."

Gift Emmanuel, Executive Director of Promiseland Estate, echoed this sentiment, stating that the vision behind ProTaxi is to assist the masses. She confirmed that while operations have commenced in Abuja, there are plans to expand the service to other states in Nigeria.

The launch received commendation from Prince Adetokunbo Ademola Ade-John, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Transportation and Mobility. He praised the initiative as aligning with the President’s vision for enhancing transportation and mobility in the country.

Oloche reiterated that ProTaxi aims to provide an affordable alternative for Nigerians to travel using electric mobility. He expressed optimism about the potential of the platform to create job opportunities and improve living standards for many families. "The future is not what you wait for. The future is what you work towards every day," he said, emphasizing the commitment of Promiseland to drive innovation and technology in Africa.

As ProTaxi begins its operations in Abuja, the company is set to implement its driver empowerment program and further expand its electric mobility offerings, marking a promising development in Nigeria's transportation landscape.
