Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Nigeria's Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, is set to deliver the keynote address at DataPro Limited’s sixth International Rating Webinar. The event, themed "Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment-Grade Status," will take place on October 8, 2026, and will focus on the necessary reforms to improve sovereign credit ratings across the continent.

Uzoka-Anite's address, titled "Achieving Investment Grade Rating by 2030: The Roadmap for Nigeria," will delve into essential topics such as economic planning, fiscal management, public-sector reforms, and strategies to enhance macroeconomic resilience and investor confidence. Her extensive experience in public policy and economic management positions her as a key figure to discuss the structural factors that influence fiscal sustainability and market trust.

The webinar will explore critical themes including fiscal discipline, revenue mobilization, debt sustainability, and economic diversification. Participants will also analyze rating methodologies and the drivers behind credit upgrades, which are crucial for accessing international capital. The discussions come at a pivotal time as the continent contemplates the establishment of an African Credit Rating Agency aimed at improving the perception of risk associated with African economies and lowering borrowing costs.

DataPro has emphasized the importance of adhering to both quantitative and qualitative economic parameters to achieve sovereign credibility. The agency highlighted that sound fiscal policies, sustainable debt management, and predictable governance are essential for attracting international investment into infrastructure and private-sector development.

In addition to Uzoka-Anite, the event will feature goodwill messages from notable figures including Dr. Emomotimi Agama, the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, the Statistician-General of the National Bureau of Statistics. The panel will be moderated by Prince Oladele Adeoye, Chief Rating Officer at DataPro, and will include experts like Torsten Schmidt from RWI-Essen and Daniel Cash from the Credit Rating Research Initiative.

Abimbola Adeseyoju, Founder and Managing Director of DataPro Limited, explained that the annual summit aims to enhance stakeholder understanding of the role of rating agencies amid complex macroeconomic conditions. He noted, "Credit ratings remain an important component of the financial system, providing independent assessments that support informed investment and financing decisions by investors, lenders, and other market participants."

This initiative underscores the urgent need for African nations, particularly Nigeria, to implement robust reforms that will not only achieve but also maintain investment-grade status, ultimately improving the continent's economic landscape.
