In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, troops from the 90 Amphibious Battalion, alongside operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), apprehended nine individuals suspected of drug peddling in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

The arrests occurred around 11:40 p.m. on September 26, 2026, during a coordinated operation in the Oghara community. Security sources revealed that the operation was aimed at curbing the rising tide of drug-related activities in the region.

During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered a substantial quantity of illegal substances, including 13 sachets of 100mg Tramadol, one carton of Codeine, two cartons of cough syrup, and 25 grammes of suspected cannabis. Additionally, the team seized 25 sachets of cannabis-cake recipe, highlighting the diverse range of drugs being trafficked in the area.

Following the arrests, the suspects, along with the confiscated items, were handed over to the NDLEA office in Sapele for further investigation and necessary legal actions. The collaboration between the military and the NDLEA underscores a robust commitment to tackling drug abuse and trafficking in Nigeria, particularly in regions known for such illicit activities.
