The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command is actively searching for a driver responsible for a fire outbreak at a cooking gas sales plant in Byazhin, following a reckless driving incident on September 27, 2026. The fire, which erupted around 6:30 a.m., was triggered when the driver of an unregistered Toyota 4Runner Jeep collided with the gas facility while driving against traffic.

According to Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, the command received a distress call from a resident near Liberty Junction, alerting them to the raging fire. A swift response from a team at the Kubwa Police Division led to the deployment of officers to the scene, where they found the gas plant engulfed in flames, threatening nearby shops and other properties.

The police team quickly contacted the Federal Fire Service, which assisted in controlling the blaze. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, and the fire has since been contained. However, the extent of property damage is still being assessed.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the crash that caused the explosion. After the incident, both the driver and the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene. The police have since established the identity of the driver and are pursuing leads to apprehend him.

In light of the incident, the FCT Police Command has reassured residents that normalcy has been restored in the area and encouraged them to resume their daily activities.
