The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken decisive action by arresting three individuals involved in the vandalism of public property in Anambra State. The suspects were apprehended on Monday evening while they were in the act of damaging government structures in the Onitsha South Local Government Area.

The operation, which was carried out by NSCDC operatives in collaboration with the Agunaechemba Security Outfit, led to the recovery of several items, including a government signpost, zinc sheets, nails, and other construction materials. SC Edwin Okadigbo, the Head of Media and Tactical Operations for the NSCDC Command, shared these details with journalists during a press briefing on Tuesday, highlighting the operational successes of the Corps in recent days.

The suspects have been identified as Oseloka Anyaorah, who claims to be the Chairman of Ogbo Family, along with John Nwobodo and Ifeanyi Nwancho, both of whom are said to be workers under Anyaorah at the construction site. Preliminary investigations suggest that the trio conspired to damage and remove parts of government infrastructure belonging to the Onitsha South LGA.

In response to the incident, NSCDC State Commandant Olatunde Maku condemned the vandalism, labeling it an act of economic sabotage against both the government and the residents of Anambra State. He emphasized the Corps' commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, reiterating the importance of protecting public property.

Maku confirmed that the suspects would be profiled and subsequently charged in court once investigations are completed. He also urged traditional rulers, town union leaders, and the general public in Anambra to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information to prevent further acts of vandalism against government facilities.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in maintaining the integrity of public infrastructure in Nigeria, as vandalism continues to pose significant risks to community resources and development efforts.
